Chocolatey Hot Cross Buns

A twist on tradition you have to try! These Chocolate Hot Cross Buns are soft, spiced, and filled with melty Van Houten Milk Chocolate – with even more piped on top!


Ingredients:

3 cups Flour


¼ cup Sugar


2 tsp Instant Yeast


1 tsp ground Cinnamon


½ tsp Salt


1 cup warm Milk


1 Egg


2 tbsp softened Butter


1 cup Van Houten Compound Milk Chocolate (plus extra for piping)


Hot Cross Bun Tray



Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix Flour, Sugar, Yeast, Cinnamon, and Salt.
Add warm Milk, Egg, and Butter.
Mix and knead until smooth.
Fold in Van Houten Compound Chocolates. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Shape into buns, place on a Hot Cross Bun Foil tray, and let rise again for 30 minutes.
Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
Melt additional Van HoutenVhocolate and pipe chocolate crosses on top once cooled slightly.
